In the intervening years there have been other women in Nate's life, but none who could measure up to Cristabel. Convinced she's the only girl for him, Nate decides to move back to L.A. and track her down.

Cristabel's still best friends with the same ugly little girl Nate remembers from first grade, June Phigg (Christine Lakin). The two are inseparable. They live together. They go to yoga together. They would even go on double dates together...if only June could get a date. And Cristabel simply refuses to leave dear June home alone.

It's the nottie -- who turns out to be something of a hottie herself.

transformer 2007 movie review

A long time ago, far away on the planet of Cybertron, a battle was being wage between the noble Autobots (led by the intelligent Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons (commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control over the Allspark, a mystical talisman that would grant infinite power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots manage to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He ultimately tracked it to the planet of Earth (circa 1850), but his wild desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold enforced him into a paralyzed state. His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to scratch a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captain's glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captain's ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captain's glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth - in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all "specimens of this alien race," and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of Hoover Dam, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens

When teenager Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) buys his first car, what he doesn't know, is that it's actually an alien robot. This isn't the only alien to arrive on Earth. Optimus Prime (Cullen) and a fellow group of transforming robots have arrived in search of the AllSpark. But, Optimus Prime and his Autobots aren't the only aliens to appear. Megatron (Weaving) and the Decepticons are also searching for the AllSpark, and it would do anything to get it, even if it means destroying the city.

John Rambo - The Scoop : There are a few things we all can be sure of in life. Death, taxes and another Rambo movie. Another one? Filming is complete, and since Stallone is still in wicked shape, John Rambo won’t lose any physical tone after all these years.

The Rambo: To Hell and Back Movie - After saving his friends in Afghanistan on the third movie. John James Rambo travels back to Northern Thailand to be able to live a peaceful and happy life just like what he wanted. He live in the mountains and jungles of Northern Thailand.

Vietnam veteran John Rambo has survived many harrowing ordeals in his lifetime and has since withdrawn into a simple and secluded existence in Bangkok, where he spends his time salvaging old PT boats and tanks for scrap metal.

Even though he is looking to avoid trouble, trouble has a way of finding him. A group of Christian human rights missionaries, led by Michael Burnett and Sarah Miller, approach Rambo with the desire to rent his boat to travel up the river to Burma. For over fifty years, Burma has been like a war zone.

The Karen people of the region, who consist of peasants and farmers, have endured brutally oppressive rule from the murderous Burmese military and have been struggling for survival every single day. This is the time when medical assistance and general support from the Christian missionaries is needed most. After some consideration, and due to insistence from his mentor, former military man Ed Baumgartner, Rambo accepts the offer and takes Michael, Sarah, and the rest of the missionaries up the river.

When the missionaries finally land at the Karen village, they are ambush by the sadistic Major Pa Tee Tint and a slew of Burmese army men. A portion of the villagers and missionaries are tortured and brutally murdered, while Tint and his men hold the remainder captive. News soon reaches the minister in charge of the mission and with the help of Ed Baumgartner he employs Rambo to lead a rescue effort.

With five young and highly diverse mercenaries at his disposal, Rambo has to travel back up the river and release the survivors from the clutches of Major Tint in what may be one of his deadliest missions ever Written by stallonezone.com

Running Time: 169 Minutes

The Movie:
All the things that were great about the first two "Pirates" films are still here. Johnny Depp still steals every scene as Captain Jack Sparrow. The creature special effects are still absolutely stunning and Davy Jones remains one of the most impressive CGI characters on the big screen. The sets and costumes look incredible, especially with the Chinese styles. And there's still a fun mix of humor, horror, and adventure. Fans of the "Pirates" series are definitely going to want to check it out.

As for something new, the cameo by Keith Richards is fun. His appearance is completely gratuitous and totally irrelevant to the plot, but it is quite amusing to see him teamed with Depp ever so briefly.

"Pirates 3" then moves into its puzzling mode. There are double crosses, triple crosses, quadruple crosses, and more. Literally every character betrays every other character at one point or another (except for the monkey). It gets a tad absurd. I'm all for multipart plots, but this is almost as confusing as teenage girls repeatedly deciding they're friends one minute and enemies the next. There's little rhyme or reason to it.

After Elizabeth, Will, and Captain Barbossa save Captain Jack Sparrow from the the land of the dead, they must face their foes, Davy Jones and Lord Cutler Beckett. Beckett, now with control of Jones' heart, forms a dark alliance with him in order to rule the seas and wipe out the last of the Pirates. Now, Jack, Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth, Tia Dalma, and crew must call the Pirate Lords from the four corners of the globe, including the infamous Sao Feng, to gathering. The Pirate Lords want to release the goddess Calypso, Davy Jones's damned lover, from the trap they sent her to out of fear, in which the Pirate Lords must combine the 9 pieces that bound her by ritual to undo it and release her in hopes that she will help them fight. With this, all pirates will stand together and will make their final stand for freedom against Beckett, Jones, Norrington, the Flying Dutchman, and the entire East India Trading Company. Written by J. Curcio

Elizabeth, Will and the crew of the Pearl sail off the edge of the map (literally) with the help of mysterious Tia Dalma and the late Captain Barbossa who has been raised by the dead to save Captain Jack Sparrow . He has been condemned to the terrible fate of remaining in the void of Davey Jones' locker for eternity. But rescuing Jack isn't the real meat of this movie - Lord Cutler Beckett has control of the heart of Davey Jones, and with that he controls the sea. The nine pirate lords of the world must unite for a final stand against Beckett, Jones and the East India Trade company. Written by Anonymous

The Extras:
Here's what you'll find among the bonus features:

Bloopers of the Caribbean - This is 5 minutes flubbed lines, failed stunts, and other fun. It's always a good addition to bonus features.

Keith & The Captain: On Set with Johnny Depp and the Rock Legend - This title is pretty self explanatory. In this 5 minute featurette we see Depp and Richards interviewed together. And believe it or not, Richards comes across as even more insane than his on screen persona as he mumbles, fiddles with Depp's costume, and does other bizarre things. It's amazing what a little editing can do.

Anatomy of a Scene: The Maelstrom - This 20 minute featurette delves deeply into the making of the Maelstrom in the big finale. They show the massive sets, the blue screen challenges, and the programming hurdles they had to leap. This featurette covers a lot.

The Tale of Many Jacks - The scene with the multiple Jacks is shown in this 5 minute video. We see Jack's doubles, the camera tricks, and even the giant dreadlocks.

Hoist the Colours - This short video shows the development of the haunting theme from "Pirates 3."

Masters of Design - This is a series of five featurettes covering some of the designers and their specific tasks in the film. You'll find James Byrkit on Sao Feng's Map (6.5 minutes), Crash McCreery on the Cursed Crew (5.5 minutes), Rick Heinrichs on the Singapore set (5 minutes), Penny Rose on Teague's Costume (3.5 minutes), and Kris Peck on The Code Book (5.5 minutes). It's a fun, focused look at some of the main features of the film.

Inside the Brethren Court - This feature allows you to see short videos on each of the Pirate lords.

The World of Chow Yun-Fat - Chow Yun-Fat gets some loving in this 4 minute video.

The Pirate Maestro: The Music of Hans Zimmer - If you like Zimmer you'll enjoy this 10.5 minute video discussing the themes and score from the film.

Deleted Scenes - There are only two deleted scenes. The first is "I Like Riddles" and it is a brief throw away line from Pintel and Ragetti. The second is a bit more substantial and it's called "Two Captains, One Ship". It shows Sparrow and Barbossa comically vying for control of the Black Pearl.

AT the end:
Of the three "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, "The Curse of the Black Pearl" was the best, "Dead Man's Chest" is second, and "At Word's End" is a distant third. Still, it's well worth checking out.

Things get worse when the Ministry of Magic sends Dolores Umbridge to teach at Hogwarts. Not only does she continue to defame Harry, she slowly starts taking over the school and ruling with an iron fist. With a war coming and signs that Lord Voldemort is ready to attack, Potter and a small band of his fellow students take it upon themselves to learn how to fight back against evil. Youth Without Youth - Online Reviews

Youth Without Youth

A love story wrap in a mystery. Set in Europe before WWII, a nervous professor is changed by a cataclysmic event and explores the mysteries of life.

Youth Without Youth - View Trailer
Source: Sony Pictures Classics

Friday marks the return of Francis Ford Coppola in the director's chair, as Sony Pictures Classics releases his new drama, Youth Without Youth, starring Tim Roth, Alexandra Maria Lara, Bruno Ganz and André Hennicke. Roth plays Dominic Matei, a professor whose life changes after a cataclysmic incident during the dark years prior to World War II.

Long stuck on completing his unrealized “Megalopolis” project, Coppola found Romanian philosopher/author Mircea Eliade’s novella about the limitations of time a compensating balm for his own frustrations. Perhaps Eliade’s investigations into Jungian theory and a nascent form of New Age spirituality also appealed, not to mention the excitement of getting back to the kind of artistic control only possible with low-budget filmmaking. Decamping to Romania (with a small section shot in Bulgaria), Coppola used mostly young local talent and had the Balkan nations stand in for Switzerland, Malta and even India. Unfortunately, the results are as phony as the back projection and lack the kind of Eastern European magical realism that would have made it resonate.

On the eve of WWII, brilliant Professor Dominic Matei (Tim Roth) despairs at ever finishing his life’s work, a study of the foundation of languages. Still grieving for Laura (Alexandra Maria Lara), who broke off their engagement 40 years earlier, Dominic journeys from his home in northeastern Romania to Bucharest, where he’s struck by lightning right before a suicide attempt.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Reviews and Suggestion

Saturday, December 1, 2007

This is part 5 of the Harry Potter series. I must admit I have never read a whole Harry Potter book and so my review is based around the film as a film rather than as a storybook conversion. I really enjoyed the movie - the centre piece of the movie is how Hogwarts is infiltrated by a hyper traditional new management who attempts to allow going its long standing staff in order to gain political power over the next generation of witches and wizards. It sees Harry mount a counter insurgency to fend off this threat. It is a story of community verses individualism, and justice verses corruption and lies. Unlike so often in real life - the unjust regime is overthrown and replaced.
Good point of Harry Potter according to my opinion

1. The characters in the movie are taking on mellowness and depth as the series continues. Harry is a reluctant but noble leader of the rebellion.

2. Special effects were overall brilliant - though the night scene of Harry Potter and co. flying through London looked cheap.

3. Voldemort is becoming an increasingly ominous villain.

4. Snape is doing a great job at keeping us guessing as to his true allegiance.
